Happy New Year!

Well, what a year it has been. I will soon post some pics of the fabulous Christmas we had. Landon and Linsday were so good and very excited. We have done so much in the span of one
year I can't believe it and am looking forward to what 2009 will bring. So here is just a summary of the Spring's 2008.

Lindsay started Kindergarten, got her teeth cleaned and eyes checked for the first time, started reading, grew a TON!!, became a Girl Scout Daisy and continues to be very sassy and fun. She has quite the personality and she makes us laugh constantly. She has a heart of gold and has so much compassion for others, I am very proud of the little lady she is becoming.

Landon's year wasn't so fun but he did have a few good things! A few of the good things that have recently happened. He had started babbling again after being non verbal for several months following his hospital stay. He says Mama AND Dada, this makes daddy very happy!! He has also started playing again with his sister and is enjoying a few toys. He is such a loveable little boy and loves to snuggle with Mommy, I enjoy every bit I can get:)

Unfortunately Landon had a very bad year medically. Our poor little guy has been through so much but fights like a champ, we are so proud of him every day. He was hospitilized in March for Flu, Pneumonia, Croup which he came home from non-verbal and VERY distant. Basically a totally different boy. He was diagnosed with Autism about 6 months later. After 3 times a week therapy and numerous doc appts to get his diet and supplements in check he is really coming along. We are thankful for every day that he gets better.

Jim and I had a decent year considering all of the the madness going on, not to mention this crummy economy that has us stuck in our townhome, we are dying for a house!! We made a few trips to Vegas, got some VERY nice deals for little 2 day trips. We celebrated my 31st and our 8th Anniversary. Jim continues to take on more roles at Accenture and is always being recognized for his hard work and dedication. I feel like I haven't done much, don't really have anything to report! I have managed to get my kids through the year alive and happy, I guess that's something!! Sadly Jim did lose his Grandma Melton after a long fight with Alzheimer's. Also, my cousin Ryan returned from his third tour in Iraq safe and sound.

I hope everyone rings in the New Year happy and healthy!!! We love you all and treasure your friendship!!!

Love,
Jaimie, Jim, Lindsay & Landon Spring

Santa Santa Ho Ho Ho....

So we went to see Santa at Woodfield. Lindsay had a BLAST, loved the Polar Express theme because it is one of her favorite movies. She sat on Santa's lap and tried to show his the entire American Girl catalog, it was pretty funny.
Only bad thing is, Landon is terrified of the noise, fake snow, Santa, well you get the picture. So instead of a happy picture like Lindsay's we chose to document his anger so we can show him this picture on his wedding day, LOL.
I can't wait for Christmas, just seeing Lindsay's eyes light up like that melted me. It is so exciting when they really get into Christmas. Here excitment is worth more than any gift for sure. Everyone have a great holiday!

Excited to see Santa...almost there...
Not so excited to see Santa, as a matter of fact, get me the heck out of here!!!
Lindsay and Marble later that night, the girl loves the old cat:)

Doctors Doctors Doctors!!!

Well, the last few weeks have been a circus. We took Landon to a DAN! doctor and she was pretty good but not spectacular, a little strange yet knowledgeable. We have to keep him on several supplements, not easy making a kids with hulk strength take a teaspoon of disgusting fish oil and 4 other yummy liquids. He is also very anemic, duh this GF/CF diet is so bad, he is only eating hot dogs and cereal bars. Nutritious I know. So, now he is going to see his new Developmental Pediatrician in January that specializes in Autism/ADD and partners with his wife who is a Pediatric Neurologist. He is also going to a new therapy center to see if he qualifies for additional services, fyi Early Intervention is a joke. Good things do happen, as I was reading a book I learned that I can give him "enzymes" that help him process any food he eats. So he will be able to go off the GF/CF diet without climbing the walls, hopefully. I will keep everyone posted on how that goes. In the meantime, I hope everyone is getting ready and excited for Christmas. Lindsay has not stopped talking for one minute for the last week. The 25th can't get here quick enough! I will try to post some pics soon, they will be visiting Santa next week, can't wait to see how that goes, crossing fingers!!! Hope everyone is well:)

Will This Ever End???

Well, friday I woke up not feeling very good. By friday night I felt TERRIBLE. Saturday I was NOT missing my hair appointment. I drove in and was so sick I didn't think I would make it back home. So last night I gave in and went to the treatment center. I tested positive for strep, big suprise I get it ALL the time. Now I am just avoiding my children because that is the last thing I need is to be sick and have to take care of kids with strep. HUGE HUGE HUGE kudos to the hubby, he has taken care of these kids the entire weekend while I lay upstairs feeling as though I am in a coma! And he has manage to keep a smile on his face the entire time, God love him! So, I will send out a pic of the hair once I don't feel like yesterdays garbage but it is very short and I love love love not having to mess with it!!

POLL: To cut or not to cut?

I am debating chopping my mop (hair). It is a pain in the **** to dry and constantly has to be curled, it is so long it gets wrapped around my neck at night when I am sleeping. Let me know what you think! Shall I do it?

Maybe like good ol' Jenny here, minus the awesome blowout that I would never be able to achieve, not only do I adore her but am loving that hair......hmmmm........

Girl #4 For the Scholers!!!

Congrats to Louise and family, they are expecting girl #4, poor Cale being the only boy! You are such a great mommy Louise, I am sure you will do fabulous with this little girl. Can't wait to meet the little sweetie! Maybe I can borrow some of your patience and sanity while I am there:):)

Landon

I had to take Landon to the doc this morning, he was up until 1:30 a.m. screaming, this has been an on and off thing for two weeks. He did have an elevated white blood count, not sure what from, Jim is convinced it is a liver infection, just kidding. So they checked everything and his ears looked good with tubes in place. So my theory is now that my son is officially a hypochondriac. There is no other explanation. Just had to share:)

Funnies

Lindsay comes home from school is telling us she walked Lauren to the nurse and we asked, "wow was she OK?" and she proceeds to say "yeah, I think she had to barf or something." We then get home after we get her a Jimmy John's and she opens the top of the sandwich looks at it and says, "Thanks goodness, they FINALLY got it right." The girl is 5 going on 16!

All In a Days Work

So I have learned I should have stayed in bed this morning! I woke to Landon screaming, he was doing his usual trampoline jumping in his crib and split open his lip in three places, blood EVERYWHERE. Fast forward, one hour later the therapist for today calls, she has to cancel to go see the dentist, SERIOUSLY??? The big topper, I feed Landon his lunch, he proceeds to fill his diaper, I go into to change it and WHOA! It was like a volcano of poo, literally seeping out of the sides down his legs, you get the picture. I take him up for a bath to wash him off, it was all over my floor, bathtub and not to mention my clothes and anything else which came within a close distance. I did manage to bleach the entire bathroom, do the laundry including our clothes, towels and cribs sheets. Wow I love being a mom!

Laurie

I just heard from an old college friend I haven't talked to in ages. Her son has had similar issues, actually more severe, than Landon. She gave me some great pointers and I was thrilled to hear from her. My heart breaks for anyone to have to go through any of this. We are praying for your family Laurie!! *HUGS*

Pictures

Hey everyone here are a few recent pics of the kids....

Landon with his new trampoline...

Linsday and Landon....

Landon up to no good...

Linsday as Glenda the Good Witch on Halloween...

Therapy

Well, today was a good day, Landon is officially babbling, very much crossing my fingers he doesn't regress because we have come so far from mamama to whatever it is he is stringing together. Just so everyone knows, we put him back on a gluten free/casein free diet a little over a week ago and have already seen huge improvements in his behavior and development. So I must say that opposers of "biomedical" treatment for kids with Autism have obviously not lived with children with Autism! I will continue to keep you all posted!
